The City of Makati, also known to many Filipinos as the financial capital of the Philippines, is the Philippines' major business hub. Makati's Central Business District is home to several multi-national companies and many of the country's big corporations.

Most of the major financial institutions of the Philippines (e.g. Bank of Philippine Islands) have their headquarters in Makati. The Philippine Stock Exchange has an office which is located in Ayala Avenue. The Makati Central Business District is office to a wide variety of businesses that range from trading, electronics, information technology, banking, call centers or contact centers, food and more.

Just a few years back, the call center business in the Philippines was but a minor industry. Over the last few years, the growth of the contact center services business has really picked up in the Philippines. The outsourcing of call center services to the Philippines has been estimated to reach over US$3 billion. This is still a small amount considering that the global BPO industry is still growing every year.
